When you make exercising a part of your healthy lifestyle change it doesn’t mean ‘let’s do this for six months, a year or two and get back to hitting it once in a while’ kind of exercising . . . . but a life-time change.
My heroes are those who you see running three to four miles every other day and lifting weights for forty-five minutes at least three days per week, even when on vacation. They are not looking for praise or acknowledgement from others, but getting a high from accomplishing their fitness goals . . . . consistently. They know the importance of staying in shape regardles of the weather outside or what your spouse or partner thinks or how you feel when you come home from work in the evenings.
Although I would prefer to see a few more pounds on Heather, I applaud her for sticking to her routine of doing consistent cardio and resistance exercises regularly with minimal deviations. Life is going to throw you curves at every turn but being in good mental and physical condition is one of the best ways to deal with the ups and down of daily living.
Copy Heather’s routine and you can’t go wrong.
Heather Locklear, 53, dishes anti-aging tips: Low carb diet, rigorous workouts
Heather Locklear looks incredible at 53, and said her anti-aging beauty secrets are rigorous exercise and a low carb, portion-controlled diet, WebPro News reported Sept. 27.
Locklear said regular exercise is her fountain of youth. “I do resistance training three times a week,” said Heather. “That really helps with defying gravity and keeping things in place. I have light weights to do reps with both my arms and legs. I do cardio a couple times a week on the treadmill with the music blasting.”
Like most people, Locklear would sometimes like to skip her workouts, but said consistency is critical for both physical and mental health. “If I miss my workouts for a few weeks, it’s harder when I go back,” Locklear told Parade. “Keeping up with the healthy lifestyle makes it easier in the long run.”
Heather, who said cardio exercise helps her maintain a positive attitude, also plays golf and tennis. Locklear, who reportedly follows a low carb diet, said she eats healthy 80 percent of the time and allows herself to indulge the other 20 percent. She said not depriving herself through rigid calorie restriction keeps her sane and allows her to enjoy her food.
“I use portion control and try to keep it healthy 80 percent of the time,” she said. “I don’t deny myself carbs or sweets. I just make every effort to keep it within reason.”
Rep Denies 2012 Hospitalization Was Suicide Attempt
Locklear is convinced that a healthy lifestyle can do wonders for one’s mood and life. When asked how she would encourage a loved one to make a positive change, Heather replied that she would take them for a workout or cook a healthy meal with them.
Locklear was previously married to Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora and Mötley Crue drummer Tommy Lee. In 2012, Heather made headlines after being hospitalized for mixing alcohol and prescription pills. Sources said Locklear was distraught after splitting from then-boyfriend Jack Wagner.
Despite widespread speculation that Heather had tried to commit suicide, her rep told reporters Locklear did not try to take her own life. “Her parents want everyone to know that it was not a suicide attempt,” said her rep.
Locklear has been doing great since then, and relies on a healthy diet and regular exercise to stay healthy and happy. “Even a walk in the evening can take the edge off a bad day,” she said.

Exercising is not about the ‘no pain no gain’ thinking but about proper form and consistency even when you are experiencing difficulties in life. You are going to have set backs and disappointments in life, but one thing you have control of is . . . . what you do with your time. Use it wisely because it a limited commodity.
