Rob Kardashian has been working out at the gym as part of his efforts to lose weight ahead of his sister Kim’s upcoming wedding.

Rob tweeted a photo from his gym on March 28, but has since deleted the tweet. The 5-foot-10 Kardashian, who reportedly weighs 260 pounds, has made no secret of his struggle to slim down after gaining 70 pounds during the past three years.

Risk of Diabetes and Kidney Failure

Rob’s weight-loss struggles have been a running theme on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” for the past three seasons. On the March 9 episode, Kardashian was shocked when blood tests revealed he was dangerously overweight and at risk of developing diabetes and kidney failure.

“Your liver is shutting down,” Rob’s mother, Kris Jenner, told him. “This is life-threatening at this point. You can only sustain this level of being unhealthy for so long.”

Kardashian, 27, began crying while undergoing laser treatment to remove stretch marks and several arm tattoos. “I don’t even want to sit down because of how fat I am,” he sobbed to his mother off-camera. “I don’t know what to do.”

Kris has since hired a nutritionist and trainer to clean out Rob’s refrigerator and devise a diet and workout plan to get him healthy again. “It’s time for me to help Rob out, gain a little control, and get him a nutritionist and some help so he can get his health back together,” said Jenner.

Kardashian confessed that he really wants to lose weight for his health, since his father (the late attorney Robert Kardashian) died from esophageal cancer in 2003 at age 59.

“It’s a shock to me. I have numbers that are freaking my whole family out. My dad passed away super-early, so my sisters could never handle that again. That’s what everybody is super-concerned about.”

Rob had a rippling physique when he first starred on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” in 2007. He remained in phenomenal shape until 2012, when he went through a public breakup with singer Rita Ora.

Poor Diet Has Caused Low Serotonin and Depression

Rob’s weight has been a major theme on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” for the past three years. His sisters Kim, Khloe and Kourtney have all expressed concern that Rob’s weight gain has made him reclusive and extremely depressed. Kourtney recently remarked that Rob’s serotonin levels were dangerously low.

Rob has also expressed concern over his hair loss, saying he has been taking Viviscal, a hair-growth supplement, every day to prevent hair loss and help keep his follicles strong. “I take Viviscal every single day,” he said (see video above).

In addition to overhauling his diet and workout regimen, Rob is reportedly considering stomach-stapling weight-loss surgery to shed 70 pounds before Kim’s summer wedding to Kanye West.

Meanwhile, Kim has maintained her 50-pound weight loss by working out daily and following the low-carb Atkins diet, a low-carb, high-fat ketogenic-style diet known for producing rapid weight loss.

Kim said losing the baby weight was the hardest thing she had ever done, but also one of the most rewarding. “I work out so hard and this was such a challenge for me but I did it!” she said. “I’m so proud of my accomplishment.”
