This one isn’t in the good HR playbook.
In an effort to promote healthy eating among its workforce, McDonald’s issued a statement on its employee resource intranet saying the following (according to this story on CNBC):
“Fast foods are quick, reasonably priced, and readily available alternatives to home cooking. While convenient and economical for a busy lifestyle, fast foods are typically high in calories, fat, saturated fat, sugar, and salt and may put people at risk for becoming overweight,” reads one post on the site, which includes a picture of a hamburger and fries, two items that the fast-food giant specializes in selling
McDonald’s came under fire just last month for its advice on tipping. Although much of its workforce earn near minimum wage, the employee site provided “pricey suggestions for tipping au pairs, personal fitness trainers and pool cleaners from etiquette maven Emily Post,” said the CNBC story. That content has since been removed.
